The 2025 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize winner
The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize is one of Africa’s most prestigious recognitions for young innovators transforming food systems. Each year, it identifies entrepreneurs who are tackling some of the continent’s biggest challenges with bold, scalable, and sustainable solutions. Out of thousands of applications from across Africa, Freshpack stood out for our innovative work in reducing post-harvest vegetable loss and empowering women vendors in Tanzania and beyond.
Why This Matters
In Tanzania, nearly 40% of vegetables are lost after harvest due to lack of affordable preservation methods. This problem creates enormous financial losses for smallholder farmers, undermines food security, and contributes to environmental waste. Women vendors, who form the backbone of local markets, are particularly affected—struggling daily to keep produce fresh while supporting their families.
At Freshpack, we developed our patented Freshpack Boxes, which use smart cooling fabric technology to extend the shelf life of vegetables without electricity. By mimicking the body’s natural cooling system, these boxes offer a low-cost, sustainable solution to one of Africa’s most persistent food system challenges. Beyond sales, we are also scaling rental services for solar-powered display boxes and developing cold carriers to transform the way vegetables move from farms to markets.
